Japanese Language Teaching Section

The Japanese language Teaching Section offers about forty different language courses every year.

1) Courses for exchange students, research students, and students in Japanese studies in Program.
   Students with an Intermediate level ( Level 3 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test) or higher can join these courses.

   Most classes meet a week for a 90-minute lesson during, while some classes meet twice a week.

   Placement Test will assess each student's proficiency at the beginning of each semester, a list of recommended courses will be shown to him/her, based on the result, and he/she will select courses which meet his/her own need and interest.

2) Courses for Full-time Undergraduate and Graduate Students
   For freshmen, Japanese A, and Japanese B are offered. Written Expression 3, Translation Japanese, Advanced Reading 2 Oral Expression 3, Rapid Reading are available for freshmen and sophomores. For graduate students, language courses are taught at the Graduate Faculties of Economics, Law, Social Sciences, and language & Society. Graduate students of other faculties can also register for these courses.

3) Japanese Preparatory Courses at the Center for Student Exchange
   A six-month (5 days, 36 Hours per week) Intensive Japanese Preparatory Course is offered for Japanese Government Scholarship Students. The Course begins in April/October, with a maximum of 30 students, and is unique in that it accept students who start studying the language from the scratch. Other categories of international students may be allowed to take this course by permission of the Director of the Center.

4) Three-week Intensive Course
   Three-week (65-70) hors in total) intensive Japanese courses are offered as supplementary instruction in September, when the university if not in session. The course is open to all categories of international students, while no credits are given for the course.
